Privacy Policy

Summary
Bequestry is built to work entirely on your own device. It has no account, no backend server, and no sync service. Everything you record — heirloom photos, names, stories, heir assignments, reasoning, and letters — is stored only in the app's local storage on your device. We (the developer) never receive it, see it, or have any way to access it.
What We Collect
Nothing. Bequestry has:
- No analytics SDKs
- No crash-reporting service that phones home
- No third-party trackers or advertising SDKs
- No account system, so no email addresses, usernames, or passwords
- No device identifiers or advertising identifiers

The One Exception: the Optional Pro Purchase
Bequestry offers a single, one-time (non-subscription) in-app purchase that unlocks unlimited heirlooms and PDF export, printing, and sharing. That transaction is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Billing — whichever store you installed the app from. We never receive your payment information. The store itself may process a purchase receipt or token to confirm your entitlement; that exchange is between your device and the platform's store, governed by Apple's or Google's own privacy policy, not ours.
Every feature that purchase unlocks continues to work with no network connection afterward — only the purchase or restore transaction itself needs connectivity.
Data That Leaves Your Device
Only if you choose to act on it:
- Exporting or sharing a bequest PDF. You decide where it goes — print, AirDrop, email, Files, a messaging app, or any other share-sheet target. That's your action, not something the app does on its own.
- Contacting support, if you choose to email us directly. Anything you include in that message (name, email, your message) is only what you choose to send, and only reaches us — never a third party.
Nothing else Bequestry stores — heirloom records, photos, heir contacts — is ever transmitted anywhere by the app itself.
What Bequestry Does Not Do
- No account or sign-in is required or offered.
- No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking of any kind.
- No advertising SDKs, and no ads are shown.
- No data is sold or shared with third parties, because no data is collected from you in the first place.
- No cloud backend operated by the developer exists to store, process, or have access to your data.

This permission is not used to collect data about you — it exists solely to provide the feature you enabled. Devices without a camera can still use every feature of the app.
Deleting Your Data
Settings includes a "Delete All My Data" control. It immediately and permanently erases every heirloom record, every heir contact, and every photo file from your device's local storage — not just database rows. This happens entirely on-device, with no server request required, because there is no server-side copy to delete. Uninstalling the app achieves the same result.
Your theme preference and any existing Pro purchase entitlement are preserved by design, since they're store or device-level facts rather than personal heirloom data — this is called out explicitly in the confirmation dialog before you delete.
Children's Privacy
Bequestry is not directed at children and is not designed to appeal to children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, because it does not collect information at all.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the "Effective date" above will be updated and the new version published at this same URL. Material changes will be reflected here before a new app version that depends on them ships.
